Hailed by Zubin Mehta as “one of the most outstanding talents of her generation,” violinist Amira Abouzahra has established herself as one of the most compelling young artists on the international stage. Born in Germany in 2005, she gave her concerto debut at the age of seven with the Mexico State Symphony Orchestra. Since then, she has appeared in twenty-seven countries, performing in renowned venues including Lincoln Center, Berlin Philharmonie, National Centre for the Performing Arts Beijing, Royal Opera House, Cairo Opera House and Royal Opera House Muscat.
 

She has collaborated with distinguished conductors and musicians including Christoph Eschenbach, Iván Fischer, Vladimir Jurowski, András Keller, István Várdai, Kristóf Baráti, Mikhail Pletnev, Gábor Takács-Nagy, Maxim Rysanov, Dmitry Sitkovetsky, Marc Bouchkov and Pablo Barragán. She has appeared as soloist with orchestras including the Orchestra del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Budapest Festival Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra, Concerto Budapest, Hungarian National Philharmonic Orchestra, ORF Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra, Franz Liszt Chamber Orchestra, Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra, Berlin RadioSymphony Orchestra and Kremerata Baltica.

A prizewinner of numerous international competitions, Amira has received First Prize at the Ilona Fehér International Violin Competition, the Arthur Grumiaux International Violin Competition and the Oradea International Instrumental Competition. Further distinctions include prizes and the Audience Award at the Fritz Kreisler International Violin Competition and the Mayseder Competition, the Franz Liszt Chamber Orchestra Special Prize, the Golden Star Award, the Silver Medal and Audience Award at Virtuosos V4+, and both the Kodály Award and the String Soloist Award at ISA – International Summer Academy of the mdw.

In 2022, Amira and her sister, violinist Mariam Abouzahra, received a Career Grant from the Charlotte White Foundation. She was awarded the Talent Award of the Cziffra Festival in 2024 and joined the Career Advancement Program of the Günther Caspar Foundation. In 2025, she received the Junior Prima Award, Hungary’s highest distinction for young artists, as well as the Prinz von Hessen-Preis at the Kronberg Academy Masterclasses and has been named a laureate of the Gautier Capuçon Foundation in 2026.

Highlights of the 2026 season include her debut at the Verbier Festival, where she appears in recital and chamber music performances alongside artists including Misha Maisky and Augustin Dumay. Previous festival appearances include Kaposfest, Golden Violins of OdessaFestival, Budapest Fest Shanghai and the Muscat Chamber Music Series. In 2025, Amira and her sister were invited by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi to represent Egypt at the opening ceremony of the Grand Egyptian Museum, performing before more than forty heads of state and members of royal families.

Amira began studying the violin at the age of four with Alexander Gawrilenko in Weinheim before continuing her musical education with Gábor Homoki and Eszter Haffner. Since 2019, she has studied with Professor Dora Schwarzberg at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. Since 2025, she has been pursuing Professional Studies at the Kronberg Academy with Boris Garlitsky and Gidon Kremer. Her studies are generously supported through the Jascha Heifetz Patronage.

Amira performs on the 1734 ex-Baron Feilitzsch Stradivarius violin, generously on loan from Gidon Kremer.
